Polish Picnic
NEW JERSEY – Veterans Post #208 will hold a picnic on Saturday, September 13th from 12 to 9 pm at the Polanka in South River, 209 William St. Delicious food and cold beer, games for kids, and fun for the entire family. September Children’s Programs At Wallington Library
NEW JERSEY – The John F. Kennedy Memorial Library’s September Children’s Program Lineup is as follows… Bingo for ages 3 and up will take place on September  18th at 3:30. Movie Night on September 11th is held at the VFW at 6 pm (125 Main Ave, Wallington). The movie for September is “Muppets Most Wanted” which is rated PG. Monday is the regular story and craft day for ages 3-5 and Tuesdays are for ages 6-8. Each week, we read a story, make a craft and share a snack. We hope you will join us weekly. Art Exhibit At Skulski Art Gallery

Join Our Polish Classes… Let’s Learn Polish!
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Fall Semester of Polish Language and Culture Classes at the Kosciuszko Foundation in Washington, D.C. will start on Monday, September 15th. There will be 4 sections of Polish language instruction: Beginners I will meet on Thursdays (09/18 – 12/18) Beginners I continuation will meet on Wednesdays (09/17 – 12/17) Beginners II will meet on Mondays (09/15 – 12/15) Intermediate / Advanced section will meet on Tuesdays (09/16 – 12/16) All Classes start at 6.30 PM and end at 8.20 PM and are held at The Kosciuszko Foundation, 2025 O Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036. Low Cost Cholesterol and Blood Glucose Screening
NEW JERSEY – A low cost cholesterol and blood glucose screening will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Clifton Health Department Clinic, 2nd floor in City Hall, 900 Clifton Avenue. Fasting is not required. Appointments are necessary; please call 973-470-5760 to register for an appointment. The screening is open to residents of Clifton and Little Falls only. The cost is $15 per person, or $10 for people 55 years of age or older. Participants will receive immediate results of their total cholesterol, HDL, and glucose. Both tests are performed by a finger stick. For more information, please call 973-470-5760. According to the American Heart Association, “Too much cholesterol in the blood is a major risk for coronary heart disease (which leads to heart attack) and for stroke”. High levels of glucose can indicate diabetes, and an early diagnosis as well as controlling glucose levels can help limit the complications of diabetes. The Clifton Health Department is a contractual health agency serving the Township of Little Falls.

Bus Trip To New York City
MASSACHUSETTS / NEW YORK – The Polish-American Citizens Club of Tadeusz Kosciuszko will sponsor a bus trip to New York City on Sunday, October 5, 2014.Things to do while in NYC: view the 77th Annual Pulaski Day Parade, see an Off-Broadway Show, Museums, go Sightseeing or Shopping. DEPARTURE: From Fall River, MA at 6:00 A.M. from the Elks Club, 4500 North Main St., Fall River, MA. Off-street parking available. Will pick-up additional passengers in Central Falls, RI from St. Joseph’s Church, 391 High Street. RETURN: Will leave New York City at approximately 6:00 P.M. Wyckoff Area Garden Club Meets

Care Taker Support Group
NEW JERSEY – The Family Circle is a support group offered to families caring for an adult loved one suffering from mental illness. This group provides an opportunity for you to meet other family members caring for a relative with a mental illness. This group can reduce your stress, provide support and increase your coping skills in a professional and peer facilitated environment. “Making Music & Magic” Children’s Show
NEW JERSEY – Join the Clifton Recreation Department for a fun filled afternoon of “music and magic” at Main Memorial Park on Sunday, September 21, 2014. First enjoy a performance by magician Joe Fischer as he astounds, baffles, delights and thrills participants. This fast paced show has the perfect blend on magic, audience participation, comedy and excitement. Then experience the dynamic rockin’ duo Presley and Melody, for their interactive concert that will get participants to rock out on guitars, shaking maracas and utilizing a wide variety of props as they perform non-strop dance and upbeat pop music. Aria Chorus Celebrates 50 Years!
NEW JERSEY – Aria Chorus from Wallington, NJ is celebrating it’s 50th year of existence. A mixed chorus #303 of the Polish Singers Alliance of America, invites all to the Gala Banquet to be held on Sept. 20, 2014 at Cracovia Manor in Wallington. Aria Chorus participates in numerous patriotic, cultural, and sacral events within the Tri-state area. Its purpose is to promote and preserve Polish culture through song. Aria also competes in metropolitan area conventions as well as in international conventions. This past Memorial weekend the International Convention was held in Detroit, Mich. with 17 choruses competing. Aria won 2nd place in the mixed chorus category. Library Teen Advisory Board Eat & Greet Sept. 13
NEW JERSEY – Teen Advisory Board (TAB) at the Louis Bay 2nd Library in Hawthorne is a great way for young adults in the 6th-12th grade to earn volunteer community service hours. It also looks great on college applications and resumes. Young adults are invited to meet with YA Librarian Miss Michelle on Saturday September 13 at 12 noon in the YA Room for an informal “Eat & Greet” style preliminary meeting where Miss Michelle will pick your brain (over pizza) about what YOU want to do in YOUR library! What books do you want the library to buy? What movies and video games? What kind of crafts do you like? What movies and music are you into? Help Miss Michelle make a plan for the remainder of the Fall. The frequency of meetings will be determined based on what young adults decide at the first meeting. Jutrzenka Reaches “80” In September!
NEW YORK – On SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2014, the members of South Brooklyn’s Jutrzenka Singing Society – female chorus #226 of the Polish Singers Alliance of America – invite all to help them celebrate Jutrzenka’s 80th year of existence. The members will start the day in prayer by singing during the 9:30 am concelebrated Memorial Mass for their late friend and loyal supporter, Kazimierz Iwachow, husband of Adele, as well as for the living and deceased members of the chorus at Our Lady of Czestochowa – St. Casimir Church in South Brooklyn. Later, at 1:00 pm, they will begin celebrating with Hors d’oeuvres, a short Musicale, Dinner and Dance at Bay Ridge Manor located at 476 76th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11209. Penny Social
NEW YORK – The General Pulaski Memorial Committee of Orange County NY will hold their 8th Annual Penny Social on Friday September 12, 2014 in the St. Joseph Banquet Hall, (lower level) Glenmere Ave., Florida, NY. There are no stairs at the lower level location so as to accommodate everyone. Doors will open at 5:00 pm with calling at 7:00 pm. There will be a Christmas Tree Lottery, scarecrow lottery and numerous door prizes. Refreshments will be available.
