Our Rosary for the Faithful Departed November 7th at Holy Face Monastery
NEW JERSEY – For all the Faithful Departed, the Madonna del Monte Society will have a rosary and traditional prayers for the dead in both English and Italian with hymns in honor of the Madonna del Sacro Monte on Saturday, November 7th at 10:30 A.M. at the Holy Face Monastery Chapel, 1697 Route 3, Clifton, New Jersey. We encourage everyone to attend and there will be light refreshments after the service. Holodomor Memorial Dedication At Union Station
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Polish American Congress Washington Metro will be attending the ceremonial dedication of the Holodomor Memorial on Saturday, November 8, at 1:45 p.m. and invites members and friends to participate. The dedication will take place on Columbus Plaza in front of Union Station (N. Capitol St. & Massachusetts Ave.), one block from the new memorial on Massachusetts Ave. & 1st St.,NW. Please look for PAC banners and Polish flags.The memorial commemorates the millions who were starved to death in Ukraine in 1932-1933 under Stalin’s genocidal policies. Mid Bergen Rotary’s Casino Night
NEW JERSEY – The Hasbrouck Heights VFW Post 4591 will be the site of a major fundraiser for the Mid Bergen Rotary’s Military Family Assistance Center on November 14th, which provides assistance to veterans and their families, as well as the families of those presently serving our country, as well as countless other community projects.”, per Carl Hassett, president of the Mid Bergen Rotary. Doors, as well as the casino bank, will open at 6:30 pm. There will be a 1st hour special where participants can obtain additional gaming chips at a special rate. Family Trip To A Longwood Christmas
NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Recreation Department will be sponsoring a family trip A Longwood Christmas on Saturday December 5, 2015. Join us we enjoy the spirit of the holiday season which overflows during a Longwood Christmas with their fountain inspired display. Explore the warm 4-acre conservatory and be mesmerized by thousands of blue and white twinkling lights, 14 whirling fountain features, and more than 50 trees adorned with icicles and other frosty glass ornaments. In addition, participants can enjoy organ sing-alongs throughout the day. Outside, get swept away in a magical world of a half-million lights strung on 40 miles of wire glowing in the trees. From their Italian Water Garden illuminated with a 20-foot tree form, to a maple tree with its roots aglow near their Meadow Boardwalk, to the colorful fountains of their Open Air Theatre dancing to the sounds of the season presenting the colors of a Christmas rainbow, there is holiday magic everywhere! The cost is $79.00 per adult/senior and $74.00 per child: includes transportation, supervision, entry ticket to Longwood Gardens (Kennett Square, PA) and a $15.00 food voucher for the Terrace Restaurant at Longwood Gardens. NEW JERSEY – Now that fall is here, Nor’easters pose a real problem; and with snowstorms not far behind, residents and business owners face major challenges in recovering from their losses. The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) has prepared a Disaster Recovery Guide in hopes of providing at least a measure of assistance for those in crisis.The Disaster Recovery Guide is designed to assist disaster victims with many of the details involved in the recovery process, including documenting losses for tax and insurance purposes, and replacing personal identification papers. The guide includes Internal Revenue Service (IRS) forms and publications for use in filing casualty loss claims; instructions for replacing personal documents, such as birth certificates, drivers’ licenses and Social Security cards; and tips on documenting damage and losses for insurance claims. Low Cost Cholesterol and Blood Glucose Screening
NEW JERSEY – A low cost cholesterol and blood glucose screening will be held on Tuesday, November 24th, 2015 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Clifton Health Department Clinic, 2nd Floor in City Hall, 900 Clifton Avenue. Fasting is not required. Appointments are necessary; please call 973-470-5760 to register for an appointment. The screening is open to residents of Clifton and Little Falls only. The cost is $15 per person, or $10 for people 55 years of age or older. Participants will receive immediate results of their total cholesterol, HDL, and glucose. Both tests are performed by a finger stick. For more information, please call 973-470-5760. According to the American Heart Association, “Too much cholesterol in the blood is a major risk for coronary heart disease (which leads to heart attack) and for stroke.” High levels of glucose can indicate diabetes, and an early diagnosis as well as controlling glucose levels can help limit the complications of diabetes. Free Female Cancer Screening For Clifton And Little Falls Women
NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Health Department is pleased to partner with Rainbows of Hope at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center to host a free female cancer screening at Clifton City Hall for Clifton and Little Falls women who qualify for the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection (NJCEED) program. The purpose of this grant made possible through New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is to deliver early cancer screening services to those who might not otherwise receive these services. Uninsured, underinsured, undocumented, or low-income female residents of Clifton and Little Falls are encouraged to call Rainbows of Hope (973-754-3562) to confirm that they meet the criteria for the NJCEED program. Eligible women can then make an appointment through Rainbows of Hope either for the screening at the Clifton Health Department (November 20) or for another date at the DePaul Center in Paterson. Registration for the Clifton screening, limited to eligible women of Clifton and Little Falls, will close on Tuesday, November 10. Dr. Maria Bitar, attending in the women’s cancer screening in Clifton on November 20, will perform a Pap test, pelvic exam, and physical breast exam. Colorectal cancer screening will be offered if appropriate. If recommended, mammograms will be scheduled for a later date at the DePaul Center in Paterson, NJ. There is no charge for any of these services. Rainbows of Hope serves eligible residents throughout Passaic County with ongoing free public screening dates available for breast, cervical, prostate, and colorectal cancer at their Paterson location. Residents from other Passaic County towns should call Rainbows directly to inquire about future screening dates available. NEW JERSEY – The Paramus Catholic High School will once again be presenting its Fall Craft Show on November 15th, a quality art & craft show with 135 exhibitors from four states joining in. As in years past the hallways, gym and cafes will be bursting with great items for holiday shopping. Stained and painted glass, hand crafted jewelry, fiber, apparel for women and kids, holiday and personalized items, inland wood cutting boards, turned wood pens, pottery, ceramics, florals, decoupage, folk art, slates, chocolates, designer hair accessories and soft sculpture will be shown.
