Polish Museum of America’s Summer Gala
ILLINOIS – The looming clouds of war were nearing in 1939. But Poland held onto its optimism at the World’s Fair in New York City, themed “The World of Tomorrow.” The optimism and hope presented at the Polish Pavilion showcased the finest Poland offered in the arts, crafts, agriculture, sciences, and commerce. With the outbreak of World War II and the closing of the World’s Fair in 1940, the artifacts presented at the Polish Pavilion could not return to Poland. Thankfully, a majority of the Pavilion artifacts were acquired by the Polish Museum of America where they are displayed for all visitors to marvel at and are a major part of the PMA collection. 2019 marks the 80th Anniversary of the Polish Pavilion. This year, the Polish Museum of America’s Summer Gala pays tribute to the magnificent Polish Pavilion. But the PMA needs the support of Polish Americans in Chicago and across the US, as well as anyone with an interest in Polish and Polonian culture and heritage, to protect these treasures for future generations. Attend the gala and enjoy a memorable evening celebrating the PMA while helping to preserve the heritage of our parents and grandparents for the future of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The Summer Gala will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Café La Cave in Des Plaines, Illinois, where Deborah Greenlee and the Paderewski Symphony Orchestra will be honored with the Polish Spirit Award, in the individual and organization categories, respectively.  In October, the Polish Museum will host a 80th Anniversary exhibit of the Polish Pavilion. For more information, call 773-384-3352 ext. 2101 or email: Gala@PolishMuseumOfAmerica.org
