Or, bring your cross-country skis and snowshoes to explore the Garden’s many meadows and woodland trails in a totally different way. The New Jersey State Botanical Garden at Skylands, which appears on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places, is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day. Admission to the Garden is always free. Parking is also free in the fall, winter and spring. NJBG/Skylands is located on Morris Road in Ringwood, New Jersey. Clifton Health Dept. Offers Bone Density Screening
CLIFTON, NJ – In collaboration with Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center, the Clifton Health Department will be holding a Bone Density Screening for Clifton and Little Falls residents on Thursday, January 17, 2019 from 2 pm-4 pm at the Clifton Health Department Clinic, 2nd Floor in City Hall, 900 Clifton Avenue. Registration is required. Please call 973-470-5773 to register or for more information. The fee is $12.00 per person. A Bone Density Screening is used to estimate the density of your bones and your chances of breaking a bone. More importantly, it is the only test that can detect early stages of osteoporosis, a serious bone disease in which the body loses too much bone or makes too little bone. With osteoporosis, bones may become fragile, leading to an increased risk of fractures of the wrist, forearm, ribs, spine, feet and toes, and hip. In severe cases, a minor occurrence like a sneeze can also cause bones to fracture. According to the National Osteoporosis Foundation, approximately 54 million people in the United States either already have osteoporosis or are at risk due to low bone mass. Osteoporosis can occur in both men and women and at any age, but it is most common in older women. The Clifton Health Department is a contractual health agency serving the Township of Little Falls.
Sons of Poland Update
NEW JERSEY – The Sons of Poland Council’s December Meeting took place Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Polka Dot Restaurant, Wallington, NJ. Participants brought an unwrapped toy to be donated to Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund for Kids with Cancer at Hackensack Hospital, our ongoing drive during the holiday season. Food and drink, a brief meeting agenda, and games were enjoyed by all — Christmas trivia and “Name That Koleda” (Xmas carol)! Prizes awarded the winners, and then we enjoyed taking photo booth pics! We do good works and have fun in the process! (Dayle Vander Sande)
