Assemblyman Giblin Joins Peace Islands
Institute To Celebrate Eid Al Adha
With Donations To Local Soup Kitchens
CLIFTON, NJ – The Peace Islands Institute celebrates Eid al Adha / Kurban Bayrami (Feast of Sacrifice.). Bayram is celebrated with feasts throughout New Jersey. Feast of Sacrifice is the time when Muslims sacrifice an animal, in remembrance of Forefather Abraham and donate its meat to the needy. It is a festival with many social aspects: the pilgrimage, the sacrifice of an animal, remembering and helping the needy, and the reunion of visiting relatives, friends, and neighbors.
On Monday, September 16th, Adam Ozdemir, Executive Director of The Peace Islands Institute and Savas Metin, Program Analyst for Embrace Relief, accompanied by Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin and Assemblywoman Britnee Timberlake, (District 34 – Clifton, East Orange, Montclair and Orange), donated and distributed fresh meat to local Food Pantries – St. Peters Haven, Clifton and Toni’s Kitchen, Montclair. Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin noted, “The extreme generosity of The Peace Islands Institute during the observance of Eid al Adha demonstrates a great community spirit and willingness to help families in need.”
The Peace Islands Institute would like to thank all of the Individuals who helped make this distribution possible.
