CLIFTON, NJ – The Clifton Health Department and Princeton Physical Therapy Group will be offering a free Falls Prevention workshop to residents of Clifton and Little Falls. Registration for this workshop is required. Please call the Clifton Health Department at 973-470-5760 to register.   Registration will be on a first come first serve basis. Please call as soon as possible, as space is limited. According to the CDC, one out of three older people fall each year, but less than half tells his/her doctor. Falling once doubles your chances of falling again. Many falls do not cause injuries, but one out of five falls cause a serious injury such as a broken bone or head trauma. These injuries can make it hard for a person to get around, do everyday activities, or live on their own. Many people who fall, even if they’re not injured, become afraid of falling. This fear may cause a person to cut down on their everyday activities. When a person is less active, they become weaker and this increases his/her chances of falling. Falls can be prevented with strength and balance exercises. Please call the Clifton Health Department at 973-470-5760 to register or for more information about this free workshop. The Clifton Health Department is now on Facebook! www.facebook.com/cliftonhealthThe Clifton Health Department is a contractual health agency serving the Township of Little Falls.
