Church Celebrates 100th Anniversary
NEW JERSEY – Ss. Cyril & Methodius Church in Clifton is celebrating their 100th Anniversary. On August 10th at 7 p.m., a liturgy will be celebrated by the Most Reverend Josef Halko, D.D., Auxiliary Bishop of Bratislava and delegate for Slovaks living outside Slovakia. The 100th Anniversary will come to a close on November 3rd with a 10:30 a.m. liturgy celebrated by Arthur J. Serratelli, Bishop of the Paterson Diocese, followed by a banquet at the Venetian in Garfield, N.J. For tickets call 973-546-4390.

Parish Polish Picnic
MASSACHUSETTS – The annual Parish Polish Picnic, sponsored by Holy Cross Parish, Polish National Catholic Church, will take place on Sunday, August 11 beginning at 12:00 noon on the parish premises in Ware, MA. The traditional Polish kitchen will feature the Holy Cross Ladies traditional fresh cabbage pierogi with special ingredients giving good taste, golabki, barszcz, kielbasa and cabbage, along with the popular Polish Platter; several booths featuring filled baskets, baked goods, This and That, balloon and straw games. At 4:00 pm a cash drawing will take place. An invitation is extended to our many, many friends in Ware and surrounding towns to please attend and support this annual affair that constitutes one large family enjoying the events of the afternoon and promoting fellowship with one another.
Summer Craft Fair
NEW JERSEY – NJBG will be hosting a Summer Craft Fair at the New Jersey State Botanical Garden, on Saturday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’ll be lots of booths with beautiful crafts, including jewelry, pottery, sculpture, photography, art, kids stuff, and all kinds of unusual goodies. Good food and drink will be available, too. After you’ve explored the Fair, take a walk in the Botanical Garden and enjoy the many sunny faces of summer. Admission is free to both the Craft Fair and the Botanical Garden. There is a $5-per-car State Park parking fee. The New Jersey State Botanical Garden at Skylands, which appears on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places, is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the year. Clifton Veteran’s Parade Committee Beefsteak
NEW JERSEY – Clifton Veteran’s Parade Committee will hold a Beefsteak on Friday August 16, 6 PM, at The Clifton Boys and Girls Club, 181 Colfax Ave., Clifton. Beefsteak by Nightinggale’s includes: salad, beefsteak, beer, soda, coffee and dessert. All proceeds are used for the November Veteran’s Day Parade. Ad Book also available. Ocean County Polish American Social Club
NEW JERSEY – The Ocean County Polish American Social Club meets on the second Saturday of the month at the Firehouse on Commonwealth Blvd. in Manchester at 12:30 p.m. Our next meeting will be held on August 10th at which time we shall also hold our annual picnic. Reservation is necessary. If you wish to join the members, call Ted Kessler at 609-693-3887. All are welcome! President Kessler is asking members to support the various planned bus trips. The next bus trip will be held on August 15th – Surflight Theater for show and lunch, or sign up for the Polka Weekend on September 27-28-29 at Honor’s Resort and Spa. Take a day trip to Atlantic City for the “World of Aloha” at the Resorts. All trips leave from the Quinn Hopping Funeral Home parking lot. Once again a trip is planned to the Platz Haus on October 15th for Octoberfest. This is always a fun trip with plenty of food, music and entertainment. To celebrate the upcoming holidays, another bus trip to Resorts will be held on December 3rd to see the “Christmas Spectacular Show”. And on December 17th, we will be returning to the Surflight Theater. All are welcome!
