80th Anniversary Celebration

Free Skin Screening
NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Health Department is hosting a free Skin Cancer Screening on Thursday, June 19 from 12:30-3:30 PM at Clifton City Hall, 900 Clifton Avenue, 2nd Floor. Dr. Adriana Ros, MD of the Dermatology Institute & Laser Center of Clifton New Jersey will be performing the screenings. This is a FREE screening, but registration is required. Individuals need to protect their skin from UV rays all year round, but now that the warmer weather is approaching everyone should be more aware about protecting their skin in the bright sunlight. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, “Sun exposure is the most preventable risk factors for all skin cancers, including melanoma.” In order to facilitate your exam, please wear a single layer of clothing. Duplicate Book Sale At Polish Museum of America
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Dear Friends of The Polish Museum of America Library! We cordially invite you to take part in our annual Duplicate Book Sale: Friday, June 20 2 p.m.-7 p.m.; Saturday, June 21 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Sunday, June 22 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Location: 984 N. Milwaukee Ave., First Floor Social Hall. The Polish Museum of America Library is selling duplicate books in English and Polish on various Polish subjects, as well as a variety of books on non-Polish subjects. If you love books, this is the place to purchase them at discount prices. Give a book a home! The funds raised by the sale will help finance necessary improvements to the 99-year-old library and ensure its continued success. The books and items on sale come primarily from donations. The PMAL cares greatly about all books, and these titles need new homes. The books not sold during the June 20-22 event will be available for purchase at discounted prices in the Library through July 3, 2014, during regular work hours. Scholarship Fundraiser

Tour Brooklyn With Clifton Rec
NEW JERSEY – Join the Clifton Recreation Department for a Tour of Brooklyn on Sunday, June 22. Sites included in this grand tour of Brooklyn are: areas along the East River, a ferry ride on the East River, Williamsburg, Satmar Orthodox Jewish and Modern Hipsters, Greenpoint and Old Time Polski, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Vinegar Hill, Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights, The Civic Center, The Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Prospect Park, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and Red Hook. There will be many stops along the way for photos and noshing into areas that the bus won’t fit. These places include Junior’s Desserts, Middle Eastern Bakeries, Polski Bakeries and Stores, Sahadis Fine Foods and the Polish, Chinese, Italian/Saluremia and Pastry. The bus will leave from City Hall at 10:30 a.m. and return to City Hall at approximately 5:00 p.m. The fee is $69.00 per person and includes: transportation, supervision and great scenery of Brooklyn. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are limited and on a first come, first-served basis. Polish American Club of Toms River Self Drive Trip
NEW JERSEY – The Polish American Club of Toms River is going to Doolan’s Club of Spring Lake to see The Heavenly Concert of Elvis & Patsy Cline on Thursday, June 26, 11:30-3:30. Saint Stan’s Carnival
NEW JERSEY – St. Stanislaus Kostka will be holding its’ annual Carnival on June 18, 19, 20, and 21 at the church grounds on Main Street & MacArthur Avenue in Sayreville. Times: Wed. & Thurs. 6-10, Fri. 6-11, and Sat. 5-11. There will be rides for all ages, live nightly entertainment, games of chance with fabulous prizes for all ages, super 50/50 & nightly drawings, “Las Vegas” money wheel for adults, Friday night Fish Fry (beginning at 5 pm), scumptious desserts, BBQ Ribs, mouth watering seafood area, Spezzi’s nightly specials, a beer garden and fabulous food tent featuring a wide variety of ethnic &American homemade foods.
