Swieconka… An Easter Blessing
NEW YORK – The Hudson Valley Polonaise Society will be celebrating Swieconka on Palm Sunday, March 24th at 1:30 pm in the Banquet Hall of St. Joseph’s School in Florida, NY. This traditional meal, will include baked ham, fresh and smoked kielbasa, hard boiled eggs, horseradish, beets, babka, butter baranki (Lamb), rye bread, coffee, tea and dessert. A short narration will be presented on the symbolism of the celebration. Please join us with your family and enjoy this Polish Easter tradition. Swieconka Tutorial / Palm Weaving}
MICHIGAN – Our Lady of Mount Carmel Polish Heritage Group in Wyandotte will hold a Swieconka Tutorial / Palm Weaving on Saturday, March 23rd. Class will be held at 1 p.m. in the OLMC Social Hall. Pisanki & Palm Weaving Workshops
ILLINOIS – The PMA will offer the annual workshop on the art of intricate arts of Polish egg decorating (pisanki) and palm weaving on Saturday, March 23, in the Social Hall of The Polish Roman Catholic Union. Pisanki workshop 10 am-12 N; Palm Weaving workshop 1-3 pm. Children over 8 years of age can join the adults in pisanki and palm weaving. Come for the day, and participate in both sessions, or only one. Children participating must be at least 8 years old, and parents/relatives must remain with the children. Please note: the cost for all participants is the same, as the materials are quite expensive, and instructors fees are included. Payment must be received before the day of the Workshop. Free Workshop “Legal Issues In Divorce”
NEW JERSEY – Women in Transition hosts this free workshop, “Legal Issues In Divorce” facilitated by attorney Janet L. Porro. Open to all women who are interested in learning more about the legal and financial issues of separation and divorce, the workshop will take place on Monday, March 25th from 6:30-8:30 at Wayne Counseling Center.
