Valentine Penny Social
MASSACHUSETTS – The annual Valentine Penny Social sponsored by the Holy Cross Parish, Polish National Catholic Church, Ware, MA will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 in the church hall beginning at noon (12:00 pm). Featured will be: 5cent and 10cent tables with gifts to be won by attendees, filled baskets, pastry, games and an active kitchen providing Polish food and refreshments. Evelyn Mongeau heads this annual activity. A warm invitation is extended to our many friends in the area as well as those who live out of state. PUC Scholarship Ball
NEW JERSEY – The Polish University Club of New Jersey will hold their 85th Annual Scholarship Ball on Sunday, February 16th at the Royal Manor in Garfield with cocktails and fantastic hors d’ourvres, followed by a superior dinner with open bar until 10 PM. The Ablemen Orchestra will play for your dancing pleasure and the PKM Dancers of Philadelphia will perform traditional Polish Folk Dances. Honorees this year are the Polish and Slavic Federal Credit Union for the “Outstanding Organization” for their promotion of Polish culture and education and Casimir and Constance Drygas as the “Meritorious Member” Awardees for their efforts in promotion of the University Club. Hospice Offers Bereavement Support
NEW JERSEY – Passaic Valley Hospice will be offering a Bereavement Support Group on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 p.m. beginning February 5th. The group will meet for seven weekly sessions ending on March 19th, at 783 Riverview Drive, just south of Route 46 in Totowa. The group provides understanding and support through the grieving process. Learn To Speak Polish!
NEW JERSEY – The Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark will begin Polish Adult Language studies February 27th and run through May 22nd, 2014. Beginner and Intermediate levels are available. Scholarship Opportunity For Maryland Residents
MARYLAND – The Polish Heritage Association of Maryland will be providing one $2500, two $2000, and several $1500 scholarship grants to undergraduate students for the academic year 2014-2015. To qualify the applicant must currently be a fourth-year high school student or full-time college student, a legal resident of Maryland, and have at least two Polish ancestors. Students must attend an accredited college or university in the United States of America. Selection will be primarily made on the basis of financial aid. Additional evaluation will focus on academic standing, leadership potential and the student’s pride of their Polish Heritage.
