Avenue of Flags Needs Your Help
NEW JERSEY – What are you doing on Monday 5/25/15 at 6:00 AM? Sleeping? You can do that any day. Come join all the volunteers and help on Memorial Day as they raise 1676 flags. The flags honor those Clifton soldiers who gave their lives for us. Volunteers give their time and energy to raise these flags. Volunteers are the backbone of this project and more people are always needed. The list has dwindled due to illness, age or those who have moved away. If you are interested in volunteering, please call John Biegel at 973-519-0858 or Keith Oakley at 201-774-6666. Come join us and we guarantee you will get an overwhelmingly good feeling for being a part of honoring those who served their country. Please join us on 5/25 Memorial Day at 6:00 AM to raise the flags. Too early? We understand. Join us at night at 7 PM to take them down. Hope to see you on 5/25. It is a gratifying experience to be a part of this great project started by John Biegel 12 years ago. After you raise the flags, join us again at the Memorial Day Parade. The parade kicks off with the Showband of the East, the Clifton High School Mustang Marching Band, from Hepburn Road at 9AM to Chelsea Park for a short service. Anyone interested in walking in the parade or if any group would like to participate, please contact Frank Gaccione at 973-773-3788. Bring your flag and a chair and cheer the Veterans to show your appreciation for all they have sacrificed so we can live freely.
