Rose Garden Maintenance Program

CliftonRose003forwebCLIFTON, NJ – The Clifton Recreation Department hosted a special rose garden maintenance presentation conducted by Mary Hahn, President of the Jersey Shore Rose Society on Monday, August 5, 2013.  The presentation taught employees of the Urban Youth Corps Program how to prune, take care of roses and work in the rose garden at Nash Park. The hour long seminar focused on identifying the 3 D’s of roses- Dead, Damaged, and Diseased, how certain insects affect rose growth, how to tell if the branches are alive or dead and lots more! The Urban Youth Corps is an 8-week work program supported by the New Jersey Department of Transportation for young adults to gain employment experience and opportunities through a grant. The boys have been working hard all summer and doing a great job making sure Clifton’s parks are kept clean and cut
