PUC Annual Ball Set For Jan. 26th
NEW JERSEY – The 84th Annual Ball of The Polish University Club of NJ (PUCNJ) will be held on January 26, 2013. The organization will be honoring Walter J. Tencza, Esq. as its Outstanding Citizen of the Year. Mr. Tenza, whose office is in Passaic is a man well know to Polonia of New Jersey. Also being recognized as meritorious members of the PUC-NJ will be, those relatives of the original founders of the PUC-NJ. The original founders being: Paul Bogatko, Dr. Adam Gutowski, Dr. Joseph Michalski, Dr. Henry Obuchowski, Stephen Golinski, Dr. Edward Bogdan, Aleksander Mrozek, Joseph Wludyka and Francis Regula. The evening will begin with a cocktail hour followed by dinner. Entertainment will be supplied by the Ableman Orchestra and the dance group P.K.M. from Trenton. The Tri-Star Basketball Skills Contest
NEW JERSEY – The Clifton Optimist Club and the Clifton Recreation Department are sponsoring the Tri-Star Basketball Skills Contest (dribbling, passing and shooting) on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Woodrow Wilson Middle School, starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. Boys and girls ages 8 – 13 will compete against peers in their own age group. Awards will be presented to the top 2 boys and girls in each age group. You may register at the competition, but you must register by 8:00 p.m. in order to participate.

Lecture About Mood Disorders
NEW JERSEY – On Wednesday evening, January 30, the DEPRESSION AND BIPOLAR SUPPORT ALLIANCE (DBSA) will feature at its monthly meeting Marc Cantillon, M.D. who has an active child/adult outpatient practice in Livingston, New Jersey, also seeing patients at home or at institutions while driving global pharmacological research for novel treatments. His talk will be: “How YOU might help speed up development of new treatments for Mood Disorder.” He will also share his practice experience of Chinese Medicine and other traditional therapies for repair of brain disorders such as ischemic injury (stroke, etc.), Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. Dr. Cantillon will, of course, take questions from the audience, as well, on all subjects. In case of hazardous weather, call 973-994-1143 after 6:00 pm for possible cancellation information.These educational meetings of the organization take place the last Wednesday of every month at 7:45 pm using the facilities of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown. The public is cordially invited to attend all meetings; a nominal donation is requested from non-members. Free literature is available to all attendees and there is an extensive lending library of educational audiotapes, CD’s and videotapes, also free. In addition to the lecture series, peer group support sessions led by experienced facilitators are held every Tuesday evening of the month, also using the facilities of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, in Morristown at 7:30 PM. Patients, family and friends are always welcome. In addition, separate groups for family and friends meet the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month and a young adult group (ages 18 to 30) on the first Tuesday of each month. PENNSYLVANIA – The rising cost of home heating continue to have a major impact on monthly budgets. To assist people with these rising costs, the Pennsylvania Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is now in progress. This Fuel Assistance Program is available to people of all ages who meet the income guidelines. For example, individuals with a monthly income under $1,396 or a two-person household with a monthly income under $1,891 qualify for the grant. To receive an application or for additional information about income guidelines, call United Social Services at (215) 923-1900 Monday through Friday between 9 A.M. and 4 P.M. A staff worker will explain the eligibility requirements, answer your questions and assist you in completing an application.
